17-year-old entrepreneur Kaden Connell recently purchased a used 259D skid steer from Milton CAT for his business, Connell Enterprises. This is Connell Enterprises’ first Caterpillar machine.
Kaden is an ambitious high school senior from Haverhill, MA, who has grown up in the construction industry. Kaden’s father, Robert Connell, has been in the industry all his life and taught Kaden everything he knows. From the very beginning, Kaden was on job sites with his dad. He developed the same passion for work his dad has. Kaden explained, “It’s really all I know. I really do enjoy work.”
When he walked into our Londonderry, NH, facility, Milton CAT was ready to support Kaden through the process and get him working as quickly as possible. Kaden worked with CAT equipment in the past and knew he needed the quality and reliability of a CAT machine. He demoed the CAT skid steer, sold his current machine that night, and came back the next day to make a deal. Manager Mike Courchaine and Sales Rep Mitchell Dructor worked with Kaden and his parents to set up a plan that was right for them.
Putting the CAT skid steer to work
Although he has only had the machine for a few months, Kaden is loving it. He is using the CAT skid steer for landscape work and snow removal. He is excited for warmer weather to return so he can put the machine to use full-time.
Based out of Haverhill, Connell Enterprises does a variety of work, including excavation and landscaping. Kaden takes great pride in his work. One of his favorite aspects of the job is looking back on his completed projects and being able to say, “Wow, I did that.”
After graduation, Kaden plans to continue growing his business. Within the year, he hopes to add to his machine fleet and purchase a CAT mini excavator.
The construction industry is the backbone of our nation’s economy and young people like Kaden are crucial for the advancement of the industry.
